Tommy's Go- To Podcasts

These are all the podcasts I have in rotation. Mostly comedy with some interviews in there. They are listed as my most loved/ listened to and goes from there, but it's more in tiers.

Top Tier:

Obviously

Constant Rotation Tier:

I've been listening to this since 2018, I believe. This has been suuuper influential in my podcasting style and life in general.

This podcast is a comfort blanket to me. I've listened to the whole thing 3-4 times and listened to the best of probably upwards of 6 times. It's so funny, fun, and can get really real too. This is featured in my movie so that is also adds a layer of love to it.

This is one of the few podcasts a watch on YouTube. It's still good as audio only, but he does a lot of good visual things that add to it. He's so funny and makes real, good points sometimes. He posts every week so it's current stuff. Most of the stuff is evergreen so you can go back and watch it all. I recommend going from the beginning because he does a lot of callbacks and builds off the previous weeks. I love knowing when something happens in the world I'll get to hear what he has to say about it in a few weeks when I get to watch him (usually while I shower) We have a lot of similarities and come here for a silly goose time.

Chris & Matt D’elia have a fun brotherly dynamic while trying to help and/or make fun of the people calling in with advice questions. Very well produced video podcast as a bonus.

This is one of the other podcasts I watch. There's a lot going on sometimes because it's usually at least three people on there and I like watching them interact with each other. They basically just bull crap and it comes out funny, as comedians do. Then they have people submit prompts in for them to go off of.

These guys have a great rapport. It's so fun and easy. They do about five minutes of just the hosts talking and then have a guest on who's almost always GREAT. Even if you don't know the guest, the hosts always make it fun and entertaining. I would 100% listen to just them for an hour, but guests are good too haha. It's never long enough, but I think that's part of having incredibly talented & busy hosts and guests on top of that.

Dana is a great interviewer (who knew! I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some sort of show offer from this) and David is great at adding funny bits to things, telling stories, doing his asides. I could listen to him all day. He just has such an entertaining way of talking with his noises and awareness of storytelling. My only gripe in the length (I want more) and the name haha. It's such a generic name for a podcast that actually does have a through-line. Since the hosts are both from SNL they have people from SNL on to talk about SNL. They should have called it like "SNPR" (Saturday Night Previously Recorded) or something referencing the premise of the podcast haha. Another show with almost all killer guests!

I listened to Justin Long on a You Made It Weird episode and realized how much I already liked him (Dodgeball, Accepted, Galaxy Quest) and loved how open and deep he was. He mentioned he recently started a podcast, so I gave it a try, and I've been hooked ever since. He has a great show format starting with telling a seemingly unrelated story and tying it back into the guest somehow. Then after the interview portion, he talks about it with his producer/brother. It's a great wind down to the show. Then they read a fan letter! Justin brings his kindness, curiosity, and wittiness to every show!

Rob Lowe has great energy and stories!

Great, but Inconsistent Tier:

Great podcast for any other stand up nerds! He doesn't post new ones often because he's so busy, but I ran through all 60+ in a few weeks because I love it so much. You don't have to listen in order, but you have a backlog of greatness.

The offspring of Cashing In with T.J. Miller, this is when Cash is solo or brings one of his comedian friends to do bits and a bit of improv under the guise of a therapy session. This is a nice chill podcast that doesn't require super active listening.

I only listened to ones with Chris D'elia on them, and I don't even know if they're still on there, but they're a great quick listen and hilarious.

Fun show format with a short interview in the beginning and then Anna & the guest take a live call from someone looking for advice. The earlier episodes are the best in my opinion. They changed enough for me to not listen to every one anymore, but the old ones are still great.

One of the OG podcasts. I respect it more than I love it. I used to listen to every one, but now I only do ones I really like the guest of. They also have the backlog behind a paywall so that turns me off a little.

Formally known as Nerdist. That's how I fell in love with it. This was the podcast that got me into podcasts. I listened to almost every one from 2015-2017 (the podcast started in 2010) then from 2017 it changed to ID10T and it wasn't the same, so I haven't listened to much since :( but I LOVED IT and learned so much about podcasting, stand up, and work ethic.
